About

Next Chapter Today helps Americans navigate life after 55 and secure what they've earned: benefits, money, health, care, work, home, purpose and people.

Kwame Kuadey

Kwame Kuadey

Kwame Kuadey is an Adjunct Professor of Finance at Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School, the author of The Social Security Playbook, and the co-founder of Next Chapter Media, whose channels reach more than 50 million viewers a year.

He spent fifteen years serving older adults before co-founding Next Chapter Media, and kept seeing the same five problems: purpose, money, place, health and people. Before that he built and sold a company, won a deal on Shark Tank, and was named Entrepreneur of the Year in Maryland.

He writes for one reader: the person at the kitchen table with a letter in one hand and a question nobody will answer plainly.

Our desks

Benefits Insider is our benefits desk: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP and disability, under one rule: no panic, no politics, just clarity. The Care desk grew out of our Aging & Caregiving channel. The Work desk grew out of Earn After 62. New sections open only when they have enough reporting to be worth your time.

Who makes this

A small team, which is deliberate. Fewer hands means every number and every article passes through people who care whether it's right.

Editorial policy

Primary sources only. Every number on this site is checked against the agency or study that publishes it (SSA.gov, Medicare.gov, CMS.gov, USDA, IRS, CDC, the journal itself) before it goes live. We do not quote figures from memory or from other media.

Dated and reviewed. Every article shows the date it was last reviewed. Figures that change yearly are re-verified each autumn when the cost-of-living adjustment and the Medicare numbers publish. Add ?audit=1 to any article's address to see every annual figure highlighted.

Politically neutral. We report what the rules are and what they mean for you. We attribute findings to their sources and let you draw your own conclusions.

Sponsors and partners. Sponsored content is labeled as such, and no sponsor sees or shapes editorial content before it publishes. Partner recommendations are made only where we would make the same recommendation without a partnership.

Corrections. If we got something wrong, write to hello@benefitsinsider.co. Corrections are made in the article and noted at the bottom of it.

Not a government site

Next Chapter Today is published by Next Chapter Media. It is not a government website and is not affiliated with the Social Security Administration, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, or any state agency. Nothing here is individualized legal, medical, tax or financial advice.
